Fishing Paradise

Rewind: April 2000

Sexy Hubby and I were in Cabo San Lucas and rented a boat for a day of deep-sea fishing. Only there were a few problems.

The first problem, it was Mexico and I was drinking like the fish we were plotting to catch, and the second and most alarming issue, unbeknownst to me, I am prone to sea-sickness.

Needless to say, we were the first boat to leave the dock that fine April morning, we caught a few fish, and promptly returned to the dock. The first boat to return to the dock, only a few short hours later. Sexy Hubby was not pleased, and pledged to un-invite me to any future deep-sea fishing adventures.

Fast Forward: June 2011

While in Florida, Sexy Hubby planned for a day of ocean fishing (sans his lovely wife) along with the Junior and a few friends. Am told it was fishing Nirvana.

Authentically speaking, these photos were not taken by me, but rather my stand-in photographer, Big G. He was invited on the boat, unlike myself.

The Junior captures the first fish of the day – a Barracuda!!

One fishy observation – seems whenever the fishermen have a tug on their line, they are all smiles. Smiles for miles. Smiles for fish {bigger than smiles for their wives or mothers?? Again, only an observation.}

Big G and his “Permit.”

Great “action shot” captured with the resident pelican.

We took the Filet of Fish (Barracuda and Permit) to Caption Brian’s Fish House, where the chef prepared a few pieces for our dinner.

From the gulf to our table in less than 8 hours.

Fishy Results: Permit was firm, much like Swordfish. Barracuda was light and fluffy. Both were fresh, clean and absolutely melted in my mouth. Can’t wait until the next trip – so I can taste the catch!
